Roy G. Miller Executive Bio

Roy G. Miller

President

Roy G. Miller is president of RGM Communications, a Dallas-area public relations and marketing communications company. Miller is a 25-year communications veteran who believes that communicating to the marketplace—key audiences such as employees, customers, prospects and the media—shouldn’t be painful, problematic or expensive. Communications is strategic, persistent and always practical. Miller formed RGM Communications in March 2007.

Miller’s career spans from serving publicly held companies and international firms to small- and mid-sized organizations to “solo-preneur” service providers. In addition, he’s served both sides of the business—as an agency executive and as a client. He also understands that communications—especially the functions of public relations and social media—are foreign to many business owners and executives. That’s why education, clarity and client communications are paramount.

Beyond his experience as a freelance writer for The Dallas Morning News, serving as account executives at agencies and being a corporate marketing manager, Miller is most proud of The RGM Approach to communications: Transparency coupled with strategy; Big Ideas and a “politely persistent” media-relations approach that reporters appreciate. It’s Business Communications for the Real World.

What makes Miller different? That’s a loaded question, but his forte is strong writing, a journalistic nose for news and a business sense of “the bigger picture"--the business realities and results of communications. Everything must align with business goals to mean anything. That’s why companies served by Miller and his team have yielded success.

In his career, Miller’s client work includes AutoTester, Avalara, Aztec Systems, Dr Pepper, Family Hospice, Fujitsu Transaction Solutions Inc., iTKO, KSS Retail, Maple Lake Ltd., MobileDemand, Paragon Innovations, Resulte, Safety-Kleen, Techway Services and The Wilkinson Center, among others.

He’s placed client stories with CNET, CNN, Computerworld, Business Week, Informationweek, The Dallas Morning News, The Dallas Business Journal, The Wall Street Journal and People Magazine to ABC World News Tonight, The Oprah Winfrey Show and trade publications, such as Application Development Trends, Chain Store Age, STORES Magazine, Supermarket News, RIS News, VAR Business and more.

In 2006, Miller was elected president of the International Association of Business Communicators/Dallas. Miller grew up in Plano, Texas, attended Plano Senior High School and graduated from the University of North Texas in 1987, with a journalism degree. When he’s not working, he enjoys his three children (even the teenagers), two dachshunds and one feisty feline, Leo the Mighty, which is the real head of the household.
